Description
What began as a free exploration of color became a small work of art in fused glass enamel on copper with pure silver accents, entitled, “Dragon Eye.” I created the piece by applying the glass colors and firing them layer by layer at 1420 to 1500 degrees F. At first, I just wanted to experiment in shades of green. As I built up color against a clear background, I saw and eye begin to take shape, and it kept staring at me. I added pure silver teardrops that drip from the iris and contrast with the gleaming copper background and opaque eye lid. The plaque is 6 inches by 4 inches and the pine wood frame is 15 inches by 13 inches.
