Copper Enamel Ornament, Sea Foam Spiral

Description

A small work of art to brighten any space, this ornament features a timeless spiral design. I made it by hand from reclaimed roofing copper and fired glass enamel colors onto them in a kiln at 1500-1600 degrees Fahrenheit. I developed the design by firing thin layers of glass multiple times  so that the colors interact with each other. The finished piece evokes sea foam at sunrise, with the copper shining from beneath the transparent glasses, swirling with the pale blues and dark teal. The ornament is about 3 1/2 x3 1/4  inches and hangs from a satin ribbon. This work of art is one of a kind. Made of glass and metal, it can be displayed indoors or outdoors in a sheltered location, free from impacts.
