Copper Enamel Ornament, Purple Galaxy

Description

A small work of art to brighten any space, this ornament features a galactic interaction of molten glass. I made it by hand from reclaimed roofing copper and fired glass enamel colors onto them in a kiln at 1500-1600 degrees Fahrenheit. I developed the freeform design by layering purple and pink glasses over a transparent base which allows the copper to shine from underneath the glass. The ornament is about 3 3/8 x 2 1/4 inches and hangs from a satin ribbon. This work of art is one of a kind. Made of glass and metal, it can be displayed indoors or outdoors in a sheltered location, free from impacts.
