Many thanks to everyone who visited my booth at the Eco-Chic Craftacular! It was a lovely weekend and I had a great time meeting so many new people. Upcycling metals into new jewelry is more rewarding to me as an artist after being part of this show.
It's a new booth design for me, in preparation for the Eastside Millenium Park Art Festival in Chicago. What do you think? I went for simplicity in black and white with some natural wood elements.

My trusty tool box is full of spoons, cut and ready to bend around into spiral rings! I can't wait to show them to everyone at the Eco Chic Craftacular this coming weekend. I'm working on as many as I can possibly make, since I almost sold out at my last show.
Here is the wooden stump with swage grooves carved into it. The stump is located at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center, a real jewel in our city! It is so much fun to transform an old, unwanted everyday object into beautiful jewelry! You can see the steel ring mandrel and rawhide mallet I use to bend the metal. The hammering part is really hard work!

My disc cutter was made by Pepe tools. I think they are in the Ukraine. Nice, hard steel punches and dies that cut perfect little circles for me over and over I roll the bowls of spoons out into flat sheets just right for flirty little earrings. Yea!

Here you can see the sheet placed correctly to have a circle punched out of it! One carefully placed blow of a hammer on the punch - and BANG! A perfect circle in seconds. That is why I love my disc cutter.

Enjoying the sunshine after a cloudy, drizzly Powell Market Day! Luckily, the rain stopped around 10:00 and started up again around 3:30, leaving nice window of opportunity for intrepid vintage hunters like myself. A big thanks to all my customers from last year who sought me out in spite of the weather! As much as I enjoyed the show, I am glad for a break until Eco Chic Craftacular on May 22. Aah, much needed rest and focus on making new pieces!
