Kristin Ellis has been making one-of-a-kind original jewelry for more than 20 years to the delight of friends and family. She has been a full time working artist for the last 3 years. From early childhood, Kristin had a powerful fascination with rocks, minerals, and geology. In the 1980's, she moved to Texas and began studying jewelry making and lapidary arts in San Antonio. The love of stone and metal soon took hold, making fine art studio jewelry the focus of her passion. She cuts and polishes many unusual gem materials to set in her designs. She uses an eclectic array of techniques to create her pieces, including direct metal, lost wax casting, and enameling. About 80% of her metals are reclaimed from vintage sources. Each piece of jewelry is a sculpture in miniature, perfected by Kristin’s artistic sensibility and careful attention to detail. Kristin has displayed her work internationally and across the country. At the moment, she lives in an ivy covered cottage in Columbus, Ohio. She is happiest at her grinding wheel and workbench, bending precious materials to her will.
